So let’s dive in and learn how to get verified on Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter — the right way.

Why Is Verification on Social Media Important?

Did you know that X (formeraly Twitter) was one of the first social media platforms to introduce verified accounts? It was initially a way for Twitter to identify which accounts belonged to celebrities and public figures, but it has evolved into a way for everyone to show they are who they say they are. Nowadays, being verified on social media instantly conveys a sense of importance and authenticity.

In fact, more than 60% of consumers trust a brand more when it is verified on social media. Having a verified account lets people know that it’s really you or your brand and not an imitator trying to scam or damage your reputation. Sure, people could try to guess whether an account is legit based on the number of followers and the content on the page, but a verified account takes the guesswork out of the equation.

This is why it’s important to get your account verified, especially on the biggest social media platforms. It not only helps stop fake accounts from impersonating you or your brand, but also boosts your brand awareness and credibility.

Keep in mind that each social media platform has different verification processes, so let’s go through how to get verified on Instagram, TikTok and Twitter.

What Does It Take to Be Verified on Social Media?

If you’re wondering what it takes to get verified on social media, you’re not alone. Verification is a mark of credibility and can help your brand or personal account stand out from the crowd. But it’s not something that’s handed out lightly.

Social media platforms have strict criteria that you must meet in order to qualify for verification. This can include things like having a certain number of followers, demonstrating a history of good behaviour on the platform, and proving your identity. The exact requirements vary by platform, but one thing is for sure — it takes effort and commitment to meet them.

That said, the benefits of verification are well worth it, from increased brand recognition to improved trust and credibility among your followers.

How Many Followers Do You Need to Be Verified on Social Media?

There is no set amount of followers required to be verified on social media. While having a significant following can certainly help increase your chances of getting verified, it is not a determining factor for verification.

Social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok have their own set of criteria for verifying accounts. These criteria are usually based on a combination of factors, such as the authenticity and uniqueness of the account, the presence of a complete profile, and the adherence to community guidelines.

In fact, some accounts with a relatively small number of followers have been verified due to their unique or significant presence on the platform. On the other hand, accounts with a large number of followers may not be verified if they do not meet the criteria set by the platform.

The verification process varies depending on the platform, but in general, the process involves submitting an application or request for verification, and then waiting for the platform to review and approve the request. Some platforms may require additional information or documentation to confirm the account’s identity and authenticity.

So, while having a large number of followers can be a good indication of your influence on a particular social media platform, it is not a determining factor for getting verified. The verification process is based on a range of factors that go beyond just the number of followers you have.

What’s The Easiest Social Media to Get Verified On?

If you’re looking for the easiest social media to get verified on, X may be your best bet. That’s because X recently introduced a new feature called X Premium, which is a premium subscription service that offers a blue checkmark to your account in addition to other benefits.

This is because X has introduced a premium subscription service called X Premium, which allows anyone to subscribe for a fee to get the blue checkmark and early access to select features. The subscription price starts at $8/month or $84/year in available countries.

In addition to the verified badge, Twitter Blue subscribers get access to features like the ability to edit tweets, organise bookmarks into folders, customise their app icons, display NFT profile pictures, select themes, and choose what appears in their navigation bar. They also get early access to new features like the Spaces Tab and Top Articles.

X Premium subscribers can also tweet up to 4,000 characters, compared to the standard 280 characters, and upload longer videos of up to 60 minutes.

So, while X Premium does require a subscription fee, it’s a relatively easy way to get verified on X without having to jump through as many hoops as you would on other platforms. Plus, with the added benefits, it might be worth the investment for anyone who uses X regularly.

How Do You Get a Twitter Blue badge?

While the old Twitter verification criteria of having an active, notable, and authentic account no longer applies, getting a Twitter Blue (now X Premium) badge is a straightforward process.

Firstly, your X account must have been created more than 90 days ago to be eligible to sign up for X Premium. During the sign-up process, all Twitter Blue subscribers must verify their phone number. After subscribing to X Premium, any changes you make to your profile photo, display name, or username (@handle) will cause you to lose your blue checkmark until our team validates your account again.

Only active X Premium subscribers are eligible for the blue checkmark, and to receive or retain it, your account must meet certain eligibility criteria. These criteria include having a complete profile with a display name and profile photo, being an actively used account in the past 30 days, having an account that is older than 90 days and has a confirmed phone number for security reasons, and having an account that shows no signs of deception, manipulation, or spam.

Once the X team reviews your account and confirms it meets the requirements, you will see the blue checkmark on your profile.

How To Get Verified On Instagram

To get verified on Instagram, you must first ensure that your account meets the eligibility requirements. This means:

  • Your account must be authentic, unique, complete, and notable.
  • It must represent a real person, registered business, or entity and be unique to that person or business.
  • You can only have one account per person or business, with a few exceptions for language-specific accounts.
  • Your account must be public, have a bio, a profile photo, and be active when you apply.
  • Your account must represent a well-known, highly searched for person, brand or entity, and must be featured in multiple news sources. Paid or sponsored media content is not considered as sources for review.

Once you’ve made sure that your account meets these requirments, follow Instagram’s official account verification process:

Meta has recently introduced a paid subscription service for Instagram users, which is also available on Facebook. Simply select the profile you want to verify (you can choose up to two profiles, one on Instagram and one on Facebook, at a discounted rate). After selecting your profiles, set up your payment method and make the first subscription payment. You’ll then need to verify your identity by uploading photos of your valid photo ID.

Once you’ve submitted your verification documents, Meta will review them, and your verification status will be updated within approximately two days. Once verified, your blue badge will be prominently displayed on your profile, in comments, search results, and even in direct messages.

Submitting a request doesn’t guarantee that your account will be verified, even if it’s eligible. Submitting multiple verified badge requests doesn’t increase your chances of getting verified. You may not apply for a verified badge multiple times before receiving a decision, as doing so will cancel your application.

Once verified, you can’t change your username, and verification can’t be transferred to a different account. Note that verifying your account on Instagram won’t verify your account on Facebook.

If you receive a verified badge using false or misleading information during the verification process, your verified badge will be removed, and we may take additional action to disable your account.

How To Get Verified On TikTok

If you’re looking to get verified on TikTok, there are a few things you need to know. Firstly, TikTok takes into account various factors before granting a verified badge. These factors include whether your account is authentic, unique, and active.

It’s worth noting that TikTok doesn’t necessarily look at the number of followers or likes you have when deciding whether to grant verification.

To be eligible for verification, your account must meet certain requirements. For starters:

  • Your account needs to be active, meaning you must have logged in within the past six months.
  • Your account also needs to be authentic, representing a real person, business, or entity. If you’re a business, institution, or entity, your email domain must match your business during the verification approval process.
  • Your account must be complete, meaning it must be public and have a completed profile with a bio, name, profile picture, and at least one video.
  • TikTok also looks for accounts that are notable, meaning they’re featured in multiple news sources. However, TikTok doesn’t consider press releases and sponsored or paid media when deciding whether to grant verification.
  • Your account must be secure, which means it needs to have multi-factor authentication with a verified email. This ensures that the true account owner stays protected from malicious actors.

It’s important to note that adhering to TikTok’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service is crucial for ensuring the safety of the platform. This applies to verified accounts as well, so make sure you’re following the rules!

Once you meet these requirments, you can request verification of your TikTok account by following these steps:

1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu button at the top.
3. Tap Settings and privacy.
4. Tap Manage account, then tap Verification.
༚ If you’re registered as a Business Account, then you can only apply for Business Verification.
༚ If you’re registered as a Personal Account, then you can apply for Personal and Institutional Verifications.
5. Follow the steps in the app to submit a verification request.

How To Get Verified On Facebook

Facebook uses a blue verification checkmark to confirm the authenticity for public figures, influencers, companies, brands and celebrities. One of the main benefits of Facebook verification is that your comment will appear at the top by default, regardless of whether the user has opted to hide Facebook comments.

In order to get your Facebook page verified, you used to have to make sure that it’s up-to-date. This included having a recent profile picture and making sure that you’ve added all of your profile information correctly.

You also had to make sure you’ve been posting regularly before you apply for account verification. In addition to that, Facebook also wanted you to make sure your account is authentic, unique, complete and notable.

Unfortunately, at this time Facebook has decided to suspend blue verification badge requests. However, following the above mentioned steps is an excellent way to let people know your page is authentic in the meantime.

The good news is that you can still have your business account verified on Facebook. To do this, you will need to go to your Business Manager and access the security settings. In your security settings, click on the Confirm Identity button. You will need to submit a photo ID and other requested documentation. Then, enter your business details and select your business from the list.

You will need to get the verification code sent to you. It can be done by using the Domain Verification button or have the code sent to you by text or email.

Then, enter the verification code and click Submit. You can usually expect to hear from Facebook about your business page verification within a few working days.

How To Get Verified On Youtube

Before you can apply for verification on YouTube, you need to meet the eligibility requirements of having at least 100,000 subscribers. Once you’ve met this requirement and applied for verification, your channel will undergo a review process. To be verified, your channel must:

  • Represent a real person, brand, or entity. YouTube will verify your identity by checking various factors, such as the age of your channel. You may be asked to provide additional information or documentation to prove your identity.
  • Be public and have a banner, description, and profile picture. You should also have content on your channel and be active on YouTube.

Occasionally, YouTube may also proactively verify channels with less than 100,000 subscribers if they are well-known outside of YouTube. Keep in mind that even if your channel meets the verification criteria, YouTube does not guarantee that your channel will be verified.

Once you’ve met these requirements, you can go ahead and apply to get your Youtube account verified.

In Conclusion

Getting verified on social media is an important step towards establishing your brand and identity online. It provides credibility and authenticity to your account, which can lead to more opportunities for growth and engagement.

Verification also helps prevent impersonators from creating fake accounts and impersonating your brand. However, the process of getting verified can vary depending on the platform, and there is no set requirement for the number of followers needed to be eligible for verification.

The first step to getting verified is to review the guidelines and requirements for the specific platform you’re using. This will give you an idea of what you need to do to meet the criteria and increase your chances of success. It’s important to note that verification is not guaranteed, but by following the guidelines and making necessary adjustments, you can increase your chances of success.
